Harvey and Trish Atkins - 2TOUGH

2tough-01 2tough-02 2tough-03 2tough-04

A 1976 LX Torana was used as the base for the 2TOUGH project so there could be a maximum amount of latitude for engine modifications, whilst keeping the vehicles emissions within legal limits.

The engine was designed to be a reliable and strong street driveable unit with a good torque curve. Even though horsepower was not being chased, 2TOUGH was dynoed with 396 hp (295 kW) at the rear wheels on 98 octane pump fuel. This equates to around 536 hp (400 kW) at the flywheel.

Despite being built to be driven rather than shown, 2TOUGH has won 21 trophies in the 13 shows that it has been displayed in. Awards included Best Sedan, Best Engine Bay, Car of the Day and Peoples Choice.

The body has been made more rigid with a Hadfield (CRS) chassis kit and the Torana's standard good handling has been enhanced with Koni gas shocks and of course Lovells lowered heavy duty springs.

MEGATWON

Competing in the grueling Australian Tuff Truck Challenge Series is Anthony Neill?s 1977 Short Wheelbase Toyota Landcruiser FJ40.As much as it started life as an FJ40, it now barely resembles its former self.

Sporting a Holden fuel injected 5 litre V8, heavy duty Turbo 400 transmission, dual Nissan Patrol transfer cases, custom tailshafts, 80 Series Landcruiser diffs with ARB airlockers, and Longfield CVs and axles, it is a solid contender in its first season. The body has a fibreglass bonnet and headlight panel, original firewall and doors, custom floor and has been modified into a ute. It was screwed together in 6 months at home by Anthony and a dedicated group of mates.

The tyres are 42 inch Super Swampers, on custom 15 x12 inch beadlocked chrome rims.

Of course, Lovells were entrusted to supply raised heavy duty coil springs to work with a 4 link triangulated rear and a 3 link plus panhard rod set up in the front.

Aaron Fitzpatrick- Datsun 210 – 2006 Summernats Grand Champion
Yet another Grand Champion Winner with Lovells Springs and Components!! Aaron and the team at Fitzpatrick Speed Works take it to the V8 big guns with a 4 cylinder pocket rocket and take home the silverware.

A build of over 5 years and meticulous attention to detail and engineering makes this another ground breaking Lovells equipped car. With Lovells height adjustable 65mm race coils, coupled with flat section Lovells tender springs on Lovells custom built monotube coil over shock absorbers front and rear, makes the Datto handle as well as it looks…. Also fitted with Lovells Urethane bushes throughout and to top it off a pair of Lovells Billet adjustable front radius rods.

Gary and Deby Myers - Silver Bullit
Although riding on airbags all round, Lovells have designed and manufactured custom mono tube short body shock absorbers for the Silver Bullit. The shocks are hand built with BHP sourced seamless tube with Bilstein sourced closing parts and valving. Extensive shock dyno testing ensures that the valve codes have been designed to work with the weight of the car as well as the dampening of an airbag application rear.

Lovells are proud to be associated with Silver Bullit. Gary and Deby’s passion and down to earth nature is an inspiration to all.

Silver Bullet debuted in Sydney at Motor-X in 2004, with an unveiling that excited and overwhelmed the Street Machining Scene.

Then there were a lot of Invitation Shows, as well as Judging Shows, along the way.
At the Holden vs. Ford Show in Melbourne (November 2004) the Silver Bullet won Top Ford of State, Top Mustang, Top 10 Undercarriage, Top Paint, Top Engine Bay, Top Interior and Top Engineered.

Then at the SummerNats 18 in January 2005 the judges and the spectators were in accord; Gary and Deby's Silver Bullet had the 'WOW!' factor hands down. The Silver Bullet won People's Choice, Top Show Elite and Co-Grand Champion, which meant the Silver Bullet was not just displayed but was driven by Gary in competition.

LesSiviour - Champion Offroad Racer and 14 times Australian Off-Road Racing Champion (Class 7 for Production 4x4's). Peter and Michelle Fitzpatrick have specified Lovells Springs and Suspension Components on all of their vehicles for the past 20 years. Their incredible '59 FC Holden is no exception, with Lovells custom front coil springs, custom rear leaf springs, Lovells Urethane spring eye bushes, shackle bushes, steering bushes, sub frame mounts radiator insulators and engine mounts.

The FC has won just about all there is to win in the world of elite street machines and show cars on a National scale including several Summernats Grand Champion awards. Peter and his son Aaron are well into their next Project, which at this stage is totally mind blowing, based on the engineering and modifications completed thus far, including Lovells Adjustable 65mm race coil-over shock absorbers front and rear with custom mono-tube damper inserts. Stay tuned for more details.

Auscar Racing - Nathan Pretty

Based heavily on American NASCAR Racing, the Aussie built AUSCARS differ in that

  • the formula revolves around the late model domestic Commodore & Falscon
  • uses smaller cube lower revving engines
  • has limited aerodynamic additions
  • uses relatively narrow road tyres
  • outrageous suspension geometry and;
  • travels in the opposite direction to 'Super Speedway' NASCAR around the Tri-Oval.

At the Class peak, more than 40, 380hp AUSCARS stormed Calder Parks steeply banked 'Thunderdome'. During this time, driver Nathan Pretty dominated the competition in his Lovells equipped Commodore.
